NorthStar Express, a dynamic third party logistics company that specializes in tradeshow and convention shipping, is currently looking for an Operations Specialist to add to our growing Operations Team in our Falls Church, VA headquarters.  NorthStar Express has a need for organized individuals that have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, solid communications skills,  a sense of humor, and a results-oriented personality.

Primary Job Responsibilities include:

• Schedule pick-ups and deliveries with agents
• Maintain an up-to-date computer database of agents and customs brokers
• Determine the most effective mode of transportation for each shipment based on reliability and cost.  Book freight on airlines, truck lines, vessels etc
• Provide Accounting with accurate & timely costing information
• Timely tracing and tracking of shipments
• Maintain TSA requirements and document files
• Troubleshoot challenging shipments & update database with appropriate notes
• Proactively manage shipments and communicate updates to internal & external customers
  

The ideal candidate will:

• Be highly motivated and looking for an opportunity to learn Operations
• Strong computer and analytical skills. Microsoft office is a plus
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
• Positive attitude, proactive, quick learner
• Some experience in logistics or operations is a plus, but not necessary
