Cargo Coverage
Conditions:
Thank you for shipping with NorthStar Express Freight, Inc.
We appreciate your business and want to provide the highest quality service
at all times. Please be assured that while every effort is made to ensure
safe delivery of your goods, sometimes loss and/or damage does occur.
As a rule, carriers (truckers, airlines, etc.) limit their
liability for freight in their Care, Custody & Control. On Domestic
Shipments, this limit of liability is often .50 per pound or $50 per shipment,
whichever is less. Additionally, it is important to remember that if a
carrier cannot be proven negligent, they will pay nothing at all for lost
or damaged freight. The limit of liability sum is only available when
negligence can be proven. For this reason, NorthStar recommends that its
customers to consult their
business property insurance policy. Your materials may already be covered
under this policy. For your convenience, we offer you the option of purchasing
this important coverage as a part of our package of services. Please take
a moment to review the following information. Should you have any questions
please feel free to contact your NorthStar sales representative.

Importance of Signing with Exception when Goods Arrive
Damaged:
It is very important that you inspect your goods upon arrival.
You should instruct your employees or decorators (or anyone else who would
be in the position to receive your freight) to "take exceptions,"
that is to note damages on the delivery receipt/bill of lading, whenever
any kind of damage is suspected (even if it looks minimal). You should
also count the number of pieces received versus the number shipped. Any
discrepancies should be duly noted. Failure to do so can be problematic
in several ways. First, it shows that you received the merchandise in
"good order." This makes it more difficult to prove that damage
occurred while the goods were in transit, which can cause a claim to be
denied. Also, it allows the carrier to deny all liability for the loss
as they can "prove" that the freight was delivered in good order.
